The European Master Snowsport Teacher Level 4+ is the highest qualification awarded by the Professional Ski Instructors of Europe (PSIE) and has been designed to match or exceed the criteria of other top level EU recognised snowsports instructor qualifications.

The qualification requires students to complete three key areas; The Alpine pathway (ALP), The Back Country Education pathway (BCE) and the Additional Snowsports Modules (ASM). Below is a graphic showing the overall qualification and then graphics depicting each of these three areas with a brief overview and links to more detailed information.

The Alpine pathway (ALP) consists of four levels of professional ski instructor certification plus the Licensed Professional Trainer certification. Each level involves skiing (technical) and teaching components and all courses are supported by sophisticated, interactive pre-course eLearning. Detailed information about these courses is available by clicking here.

The Back Country Education Safety pathway (BCE) provides comprehensive training and education for safe travel in the back country away from the patrolled ski areas. Avalanche awareness and safety, route choice, navigation and touring are all covered in detail. Click here for more detailed information on the course content and outcome standards.

The five Additional Snowsports Modules are a requirement of the overall European Master Snowsport Teacher (EMST) qualification.

1) Speed Test
The speed test is a requirement of the EU Common Training Test (CTT). You can find out more information about this by clicking here.

2) First Aid
More information about the first aid requirement for the EMST and recommended providers is available by clicking here.

3) 2nd Discipline
The 2nd discipline requirement means that in addition to your PSIE 'alpine' L4 certification you need to gain a minimum of Level 1 in another discipline e.g., snowboard, telemark, adaptive, nordic. We accept these qualifications from any recognised association/organisation such as the NZSIA, APSI, PSIA, BASI etc.

4) 2nd Language
The requirement for a 2nd language for the EMST matches a similar requirement by other nations for their highest level certification. Languages can include French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese etc. To take a 2nd language test please contact us.

5) Mental Skills Coach
The Mental Skills Snowsports Coach (MSSC) is open to instructors of all disciplines from any association and also from an integral part of the EMST ensuring that instructors with this prestigious award are well trained in dealing with the psychological component of performance and have their learner's well-being at the forefront of their practice.
